Art

Subject Leader; Miss Flawn

Art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. A high-quality art and design education should engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. (National Curriculum 2014). Art is a fantastic way for all children of all ages to express themselves, be creative and to explore. It is a practical subject which stimulates creativity and imagination through the use of a wide range of media and materials. Art is also very effective as a cross-curricular link, adding to children’s experiences and depth of understanding in other areas of their learning, from creating their own artwork and artefacts to broadening their experiences of time, place, ideas and feelings.
