Homework

Home learning expectations per year group

Below is a breakdown of the homework we would like each year group to complete each week and the rough timings this should take.

Children in each year group can always engage in additional, optional learning. We provide optional learning grids each term that include ideas from the wider curriculum that children may wish to complete. Parents may also wish to add their own activities - there are some suggested websites at the bottom of this page that can support with this.

If children are struggling to complete home learning, we run a homework club each Monday lunchtime in the ICT suite.

Nursery

Children are encouraged to complete the Tapestry Challenge each half term.

We encourage parents to read to their child every day.

Reception

Children are encouraged to complete the Tapestry Challenge each half term.

We encourage parents to read to their child every day.

Once children start their phonics groups (after October half term), links are sent home via Tapestry for you to practise phonics sounds learnt that week.

Once children start to learn to read, we encourage 5-10 minutes of reading 4-5 times a week.
